ABOUT SQUID INTERNET
Q: How will a community website benefit our residents? A: Squid Internet websites offer your residents not only an online multi-topic
discussion forum, but they will also have instant access to important
contact names and addresses, such as the developer, homebuilders, and
board members. You can post copies of electronic home warranty repair/request
forms, or links to homebuilder and developer websites. Classifieds offer
a cost-effective way for residents to advertise goods and services to
their neighbors without having to pay for expensive ads in local newspapers
that only run for one or two weeks. Additionally, residents can easily
learn about the newest developments and issues by viewing the News page,
which shows a list of news stories regarding their community. A calendar
of events allows community members to quickly see upcoming events during
the current or future months. Once the residents of your community begin
using their website for discussions, news, and information, they'll soon
wonder how they ever lived without one. Q: Will our website be viewable by the public OR non-residents? A: It's up to you. Squid Internet HOA websites have two areas - one
for the public and a secure area for member residents. The public pages
include maps and directions, homes for sale, about the community, and
HOA board contact information. The secure resident only area requires
resident members to be registered and logged in to view. The secure resident
only area includes resident directory, covenants and bylaws, newsletters,
and official forms. Q: How many homeowners does the website allow? A: We have no restriction on the number of homeowners that can participate
on your community's website. Our websites are designed to be flexible
enough for number of residents. Q. I only have 20 homes in my community. Can I still get a website?A. Yes. Whether your community is 20 or 2000, a community of any size
can get an affordable website tailored to your needs. Large or small,
your HOA and the residents will benefit from an HOA website.
Q: How is our HOA website created? A: Your HOA website will NOT be made from some canned and over-used
template. Your website will be designed just for you - for your specific
needs and wants. Q: How much does an HOA website cost? A: Probably much less than you might think. Even a small community can
easily implement an Squid Internet website without having to raise HOA
dues or implement surcharges on residents. Basically, the website plans
are based on functionality and are very affordable. For more information
on our pricing, please see the contact
form below. Q. Who handles site changes?A. This is your choice. Traditionally, we will make any modifications
and updates to your website, which is invoiced at our fixed hourly maintenance
rate and depending on the plan selected, some monthly maintenance is included.
If you would prefer, we can setup a member of your association to make
updates to your website. Q. Is a long-term contract required?A. There are NO long-term contracts. You are only invoiced after work
has been performed. After your HOA website has been built and installed,
there are no other bills unless we are also hosting your site or you have
asked us to make changes.
Q: Do we get our own e-mail accounts? A: E-mail service from Squid Internet is affordable and very reliable.
Our e-mail service provides both POP e-mail accounts and Webmail service
- where you check your e-mail anywhere (home, work, on the road) and anytime
from the web. Set-up e-mail addresses or e-mail aliases at yourHOA.org
(example you@yourHOA.org) for board members, committee members, or other
volunteers and residents. Q: Where will my website be stored? A: Your website will be stored on our secure server (NS1.squidinternet.com),
which is continuously monitored by our hosting partner and our technical
staff. Squid Internet provides all the support you will ever need, so
rest assured that your website will always be protected and maintained.
Q: Can I use my own website name? A: Of course, you can use your own existing website name. If you do
not currently have a website name, we will be happy to purchase one for
you. Q: Do we get to choose a domain name for our site?A: Yes. If you have already registered a domain, we will supply hosting for the website and once your account is set up, we can give you the information you need to point your domain name at the web server hosting your account. If you do not know how to update the nameservers for your domain, we
can assist you with the update. Q. How do I register my community Domain name?A. We will register it for you during the set up process. We request
that you provide us with your top three choices in a priority order. Traditionally,
HOA websites are considered non-profit organizations and use a .org domain
- yourcommunity.org. Q: How much does a domain name cost? A: Squid Internet will purchase and setup your domain name for only
